Northwestern falls to Lady Wolverines

The Lady Wolverines finished off their regular season with a 59-32 over Northwestern at Mellette on Thursday, Feb. 14. Herreid-Selby Area heads into post season play leading in seed points in the district and region and posts a 19-1 record.

H/SA Outlasts Leola/Frederick, 47-43

The Herreid/Selby Area Wolverines hosted the Leola/Frederick Titans last Friday night in Herreid. The Titans brought in an 11-7 record and had won eight of their last ten, while the Wolverines were 9-7 and trying to win their third straight.

Lady Wolverines sail past Potter County, 54-42

The Lady Wolverines remained undefeated in conference play and sealed the Yellowstone Trail Conference Championship by overpowering Potter County 54-42 Tuesday, Feb. 12, in Herreid. Herreid-Selby Area, ranked fifth in Class B polls this week, improves to 18-1 for the season. “We played fairly well offensively,” said Coach Dean Schwartz. “We did not shoot the best, but our press created a lot of turnovers and easy baskets. That was our last conference game, so it was a good win for us to take the conference title.”

Standing Rock Warriors fall to M-P Lady Tigers

The Lady Tigers gave up a 14 point first half lead but used free throw shooting in the fourth quarter to hang on for a two point win Monday night, Feb. 12. They defeated Standing Rock, 58-56, in a game played on the Warriors' court.

Tigers’ win streak ends in Winner

All good things come to an end, and so it was for the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers on Friday, Feb. 15, in Winner. The Warriors defeated the Tigers, 70-55, and in the process ended the Tigers’ 15 game winning streak.

Winner Warriors sweep past M-P Lady Tigers

Mobridge-Pollock fell to the Winner Lady Warriors on Friday night, Feb. 15, 59-19, in Winner. The Lady Tigers never got their offense going in first half action. The first quarter was especially dismal, as they never got a bucket to fall. They also struggled with turnovers and were out rebounded three to one and trailed, 18-0, at the break.

Mobridge-Pollock picked up an easy win Tuesday night, Feb. 12, in Fort Pierre as they defeated the Stanley County Buffaloes, 76-44.

M-P wrestlers advance three to State Tourney

The Tiger wrestling team competed in the Region 4B Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Ice Arena at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City. The team advanced three wrestlers to the State Tournament; Brady Spiry 2nd, Chase Schoenhard 4th and David Jensen 4th. The State Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb-22-23, in Aberdeen.

Wolverines Win Second Straight – Defeat Depleted McIntosh Squad 67-53

The Herreid/Selby Area Wolverines hosted the McIntosh Tigers last Saturday evening in Selby in the team’s last game in Selby for the season. McIntosh had won but two games all season and both of those were against Tiospaye Topa; while Herreid/Selby Area was looking to move two games above .500 for the first time since being 3-1 early in the season. Ineligibility and illness were factors for the Tigers, as they suited a total of seven boys for the contest.

Lady Wolverines edge Chargers in double OT

Spectators got their money’s worth as the Lady Wolverines improved their record to 16-1 by defeating conference rival Sully Buttes, 52-50, in double overtime at Selby on Thursday, Feb. 7. Herreid-Selby Area overcame a seven point third quarter deficit to tie the game up at 42 points at the end of regulation play.
